An excellent little rod. I bought one of these packages for my son’s last birthday, and he had no trouble picking up a simple ‘pick up and lay down’ cast and even a roll cast. The rod is really easy to load and the line supplied seems perfect. We went to the Australian Rainbow Trout Farm for a flick and the little fellow had no trouble laying down some casts and landing several rainbows of about 500g. The reel is a little ‘rickety’ however and the drag seems hard to adjust for little fingers; its either all on or all off. It may be worth shelling out a little more on one of Gavin’s alloy reels to match it. I myself would be happy to use this as my ‘tiny stream’ trout rod. I give it 4 stars for merit and five stars for value! A great product.
